Vehicular and Passenger Ferry Service Hong Kong and Kowloon.
We are instructed by a Syndicate of leading Chinese merchants to inform you that they are desirous of having an opportunity of tendering for the Hong Kong West Ferry Service i.e. between Victoria, Yaumati, Mongkok and Shamshuipo.
They also wish to submit, for consideration, a scheme for running a combined passenger and Vehicular Ferry Service either in conjunction with or entirely independent of the Hong Kong West Ferry Service on in the alternative to tender for any such scheme if put up for tender.
Our clients propose, in the event of their being the successful tenderers for the Hong Kong West Ferry Service, to provide in the first place four double ended and 10 other passenger ferry boats of at least the same standard as the existing service and to replace these at the earliest moment with modern ferries to be specially designed and built for the service by British Ship Builders.
As regards the Vehicular Ferry a scheme is being prepared and will be completed in about a week.
Our clients are prepared to spend a sum of about $1,000,000.00 on the Reclamation and construction of Ferry pier and offices on Jubilee Street and Jordan Road ferry termini as outlined in the sessional papers No.6 of 1928, and to provide such other capital as may be required.
We have the honour to be,
Sir,
Your obedient servants,
(Sd). Russ & Co.
